Jonathan's signature images of hyper-masculine, muscular men with massive erections caught our attention and we sought him out for an interview in Paragon Men. First things first: Your models are extraordinarily well-endowed. I look at naked men for a living, and the horse-hung Adonises in your portfolio are extremely rare, less than one-in-a-million men perhaps. At the risk of seeming like a complete size queen, I can't stop looking at the enormous penises in your portfolio - it makes me weak in the knees! Where do you find so many gorgeous hunks with both world-class bodybuilder physiques and truly gigantic cocks? I find these models on various escort websites, or in different areas around New York City. I show them samples of my photo skills, and work with them. You have a unique way of shooting truly horse hung men with their penises looking monsterously large while seemingly still in a flaccid state. How do you achieve this effect? Is there a trick involved? No tricks. You have two types of guys: They either have their penises erected up, or erected in a down curve. I enjoy working with guys that are erected in a down curve. As a personal preference, I find it quite sexy.... I don't take credit, and these guys are naturally erected that way.... It's an artistic statement. Either full erection up or down curved, the male physique is hot! Do you shoot only in the studio or do you also travel for shoots? What sorts of images do you create? I do studio & travel photo shoots. The images I create are basically the male body and male nude photos. Do you have a favorite category? I don't have a favorite category. I'm opened minded. What are your thoughts on shooting in studio vs. shooting outside a studio setting? In a studio, you have more control over the lighting of the subject vs. out door photos. The lighting & shadows are much harsher. The best time to take photos outdoors is during the late afternoon. How did your career start and develop? I have worked for two fitness publications based in New York City. New York Bodies and Musclezine Fitness used to send me to the regional bodybuilding exhibitions to photograph the competitive bodybuilders. Later, I started photographing various male porn stars for their private websites. Do you have any advice for aspiring photographers? Enroll in a Studio Photography Class, and sharpen your photo skills. Has your work been published? The studies and the artistic works of the male anatomy have always been very inspirational to me. The image of the male body sculptured, painted, or photographed is truly a work of art that should be seen by all who can appreciate the awesome beauty of the male physique. Photographing various great looking guys have always given me artistic pleasure, and have pushed my boundaries as a visual artist. What are your thoughts on color vs. black & white physique photography? I enjoy doing both when shooting physique photography. Black & White is classic, and Color is great if you have the right filters to give you photos the warmth & richness that is need to show stylized color photography. How do you use lighting in your work? I use strobe lighting to enhance my subjects. Softboxes, or umbrellas used on strobe lights give the models a natural look without looking harsh. Do you use any image enhancement or retouching software? I use Adobe PhotoShop. Which photographers or artists have most inspired you? Whose work has most impressed you recently? Which new photographers are you watching? Jim French is the all-in-all master who has inspired me for studio photography. I love the way he works the lighting on his stunning models. Tom Bianchi does excellent work combinding models, and the great outdoors. His works are quite impressive. At this time, I haven't obsered any new photographers. What do you look for in a model? Have any particular models been muses for your work? I look for symmetry. The model can be atheletic, swimmer, or bodybuilder. They have to have a presents that grabs you, and make you take notice of them. You have various types of guys. Some looks work, and some don't. It all depends how the model presents themselves. I don't have a particular model that stands out as a "The" model per se. Each model I've worked with brings something unique to the table, and I enjoy working with them all. Which male body type do you prefer: bodybuilder, fitness model, slender beauty, all of the above, or other? Please discuss creating artistic images with different types of physiques. As far as body type, I enjoy working with all of the above. Working with Bodybuilders, lighting is very important to enhance their physiques. Posing also plays a major factor on how they are going to project in photos. Fitness Models look great with or without clothing. I enjoy photographing them in a more relaxed and natural situation. Slender Models with great proportions and proper direction can produce an astounding surreal look that's quite pleasing. Shaved or hairy? What's your ideal? With an excellent physique, a shaved body looks good, because you can see all of the cuts, especially when lit properly. Hairy bodies can also be a turn on in front of the camera. Just enough hair trimmed to look good for a photo shoot. I've noticed you sometimes use costumes and props in your images. Please explain how you incorporate them into your creative technique. Depending on the mood I want to project to the viewer, I'll use costumes and props. Lets face it, all of us fantasize and these are important tools used to enlighten my concept of fantasy. Each photo you look at tells a story. Do you consider any of your models your muses? Yes I do, very much so. Each one in their own way has brought out the best in my work, and me as a photographer.
